Research & Facilitation Services

Working with ProSocial World

Most groups don't struggle because people don't care or aren't trying. They struggle because the conditions around them make cooperation harder than it needs to be – and because those conditions are often invisible until something goes wrong.

What we do

Research and facilitation services

ProSocial World's research and facilitation services help groups, communities, and organizations see those conditions clearly. Not just what a group says it values, but whether its structures, conversations, and governance arrangements are actually supporting the cooperation it's trying to build.

Who we work with

Who we work with

We work with nonprofits, healthcare services, community organizations, facilitation practitioners, coalitions, and mission-driven teams who want to understand how they're actually functioning and what would help them function better. Our clients are usually already doing meaningful work. They come to us when they want to understand it more clearly, strengthen what's working, and address what isn't.

What to expect

A process that fits your context

A typical engagement begins with a conversation about what your group is trying to understand or change.

Step one

Conversation

We start by understanding what your group is trying to understand or change — the context, the question, and the stakes.

Step two

Design

Together we identify the right combination of tools and design a process that fits your context and scope.

Step three

Engagement

Most engagements run over several weeks to a few months. We work alongside you throughout — not just at the beginning and end.

Step four

Insight

You receive evidence-based findings with concrete leverage points — and the support to act on them.

Our services

Our Services

ProSocial World offers four interconnected services spanning assessment, analysis, facilitation, and research. Survey assessment and discourse analysis are delivered through ProSocial Insights, our assessment and interpretation platform – providing immediate, practical insight into how a group is functioning, where cooperation is strong, and where support or redesign would make the greatest difference. Facilitated processes and participatory action research work alongside these tools to support groups in understanding their conditions and taking meaningful action.

Assessment & analysis

Survey assessment

Survey-Based Assessment

A validated survey that measures the conditions sustaining cooperation in your group, including governance practices, workload, trust, psychological needs, and commitment. Reports are generated automatically and delivered directly to individuals and teams, identifying structural conditions for cooperation, showing how your group is functioning, where your strengths lie, and where support would make the greatest difference.

Discourse analysis

PRISM Discourse Analysis

For deeper insight, PRISM analyzes what people actually say in meetings, governance forums, planning sessions, and collaborative conversations. It reveals the behavioral architecture beneath the surface: how values are being enacted, where governance conditions support or constrain cooperation, and whether a group's norms and practices are aligned with its stated purpose.

The output is a developmental forecast identifying strengths, vulnerabilities, and concrete leverage points over a 6–12 month horizon.

Working with your group

Facilitation

Facilitated ProSocial Processes

Structured facilitation grounded in cooperation science, informed at every step by ProSocial Insights data. Group members work together to develop a sense of shared purpose and direction, identify what needs to change, agree on shared commitments, and support each other in becoming more effective – as individuals, as teams, and as partners with other groups pursuing similar goals. Survey results and discourse analysis shape each stage of the process, ensuring the facilitation responds directly to what your group actually needs.

Participatory research

Participatory Action Research

ProSocial's Participatory Action Research approach prioritizes collaboration, ensuring that the communities and groups we work with are active partners, not just subjects. Outcomes are co-defined, small-scale action learning cycles are embarked on in areas of opportunity, and findings are used to strengthen what's working and address what isn't. Research questions, evaluation plans, and data collection strategies are co-developed with stakeholders, aligned with their unique context and goals. The process includes facilitated sensemaking to interpret their own data, foster a shared understanding of results, and co-create action plans.
