About the Course

The Action Lab

Over 10 weeks, groups from around the world will be paired with a ProSocial coach, and together, we will learn and share how we can work together more effectively.  We will take value-directed and prosocial approaches to achieving what is important personally and collectively. Fieldwork and action learning will be integral to leading real change in your group and, ultimately, your community or workplace. You will also be invited to participate in a global research project to contribute toward a more prosocial world.

This Action Lab will weave together four streams of activity:

1: Orienting, Learning and Connecting

2: Consciously Evolving Oneself

3: Consciously Evolving Your Team

4: Sharing and Celebrating

What will you learn?

This Action Lab will take your team through an in-depth experience into four essential processes. Designed to help you deepen your sense of personal and collective vision, values and needs, Elinor Ostrom’s Nobel prize-winning design principles will enhance your collaborative action.

The ProSocial process is evidence based and informed by cultural evolutionary theory, and the science of behavior change.

The aim is for your team to be more successful in your endeavors and able to implement prosociality at larger scales. The ProSocial Action Lab has been designed to enable you to improve:

  • Team communication and collaboration
  • Goal setting and action plans
  • Cooperation with other groups

At the conclusion of the course, all participants will be introduced to our global ProSocial Community of Practice and be invited to learn more and participate in future offerings. Like the ProSocial Action Lab, each of our offerings is focused on an aspect of the question, “How can we build more trust and collaboration in the groups and networks we care about? How can we work together to make the difference we are striving for?”

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

Learning Objectives

At the end of the program, your team will have achieved:

  • Greater clarity and integration of personal vision and team mission

  • An expanded awareness of everyone’s strengths as a transformational leader within their team
  • Strategies towards fulfilling your group's goals and values

I initially trained in music and then, in a later chapter of my life, went on to become an academic doing applied research in the field of Contextual Behavioural Science through the Australian National University. Over the last couple of decades, this stream of activity has had me working with communities, organisations, and governments across the Australian, Pacific, African, Asian, European, and American regions. Presently, I am working with ProSocial World, an organisation that has developed a change method based on behavioural and evolutionary sciences that enhances cooperation and collaboration for groups of all types and sizes that is effective at multiple scales. When engaged, for me, this means co-designing behavioural and evolutionary approaches to realising environmental and socio-cultural resilience and wellbeing for those I am working with.
